Gili Trawangan is an island that always surprised. I really enjoyed visiting Gili Trawangan. It has everything here, brilliant blue white sand beaches, beautiful underwater gardens to dive into, relaxation and yoga centers, places to relax to read a book, and stunning sunsets.
From year to year, I see Gili Trawangan experiencing various changes. Hotel are getting more and more, roads are getting smoother and clean, and restaurants are scattered. Usually, when I’m on this island I never plan a culinary tour. Dinner is always at the Gili Trawangan Night Market which provides a variety of Indonesian dishes.
But this time visit, i will explore some restaurant and write it for you.
Here’s our version of the 3 Best Restaurants in Gili Trawangan which can be used as a culinary guide from morning to night, based on Tripadvisor.
Kayu Café
Kayu Café, one of the restaurants that I see, is always busy. Many foreign tourists like to enjoy coffee and fresh salads here. The menu here is very diverse, from light and healthy things like salads and smoothies, to heavy meals for lunch. The menus are a combination of Western, Thai and Indonesian menus. Unfortunately, this cafe is only open until seven in the evening.
I am a coffee connoisseur, my favorite coffee here is Long Black Coffee and with many cake which is very delicious. And for dish I tried Tuna & Leek Quiche for 70K rupiah. The price is quite expensive, the menu here is very diverse and it’s worth to try.
With a wooden interior, this cafe, also has outdoor seating with front beach view, is very beautiful and a comfortable place to relax, wifi is available here.
Le Petit Gili
The first time I came here I wasn’t too sure about the taste, apparently I was wrong. Located behind the Gili Trawangan Night Market area, this restaurant offers main Western menus, such as pasta and burgers, Indonesian dishes are also available, but the favorite here is burgers. I ordered the Double Beef Burger with thick and delicious beef.
The portions here are quite large. The mainstay drink here is Bintang. I found a place to eat that made my visit to Gili Trawangan even more enjoyable. At first I didn’t really believe it because the outside appearance of the place was a bit unattractive. But I was wrong, don’t judge a book by its cover.
The Roast House
For dinner, I decided to try The Roast House which is always packed with visitors every night. As the name implies, the famous menu here is grilled chicken served plain or with vegetables and gravy sauce. I ordered Roast Chicken with Veggies & Gravy Sauce which was quite a large portion. The taste is also satisfying, here is also available Beef Burger with melted cheese from behind the bread, this burger looks very tempting.
I also recommend a restaurant located beside Gili Trawangan Night Market, to be visited when you go to Gili Trawangan. Even though the place is narrow—because it’s always full of visitors the tables and chairs are placed right up to the roadside, the menu here is a must try and is guaranteed to make your stomach unable to accommodate any other food.
